2017 will be Robert Trujillo's 14th year in the band, the same amount of time as Jason Newstead was a member. I find this fact scary and it makes me feel old.
His bass solo on 'Spit out the bone' (incidentally the band's best song in years) reminds me of a young Cliff Burton. This makes me feel young again.

The current album is by far one of the best in a long time. Reminds me of Kill Em All and Ride the Lightening. Its very riffy. I cant believe he has been with the band that long! He still seems very new. I hope they gig here again soon. Shame they did some smaller venues recently but it would be nice to do a stadium tour again.

Only seen them once, Lollapalooza '96. 100F heat was a bit much, but Soundgarden and the Ramones supporting was great. If they ever get a decent drummer they'll be superb

My first gig ever was Metallica at MK, still one of the best I've been to. Baking hot day (my mates had gone to GnR the week before and I remember them saying it pissed down all day) Was a massive fan of Alice in Chains as well and was gutted they pulled out, I'd never heard of The Almighty before then but thought they were fantastic.

One of the greatest gigs i've been to that Milton Keynes show. IIRC they finished with the cover of "So What" - I bet that went down well at the BBC broadcast!

Yeah, GN'R were the week before. Their show had got massively bloated by that point (a bit like Axl now really).
I watched a doc on that Metallica Milton Keynes show a while back. I'm sure the story went that Radio 1 would broadcast it on the proviso that there was no swearing. Cue James striding up to the mic 10 seconds into Creeping Death..."FUCK YEAH, MOTHERFUCKERS...CREEPING DEATH,,,,"

Ah the current young ladies face when I first introduced her to the song Arise.
And then I played her some of Obituary's 'Circle of the Tyrants'.
The confusion of her face as she's looking at a Mod who's favourite band is The Jam and who has also seen Kenny Rogers live twice.
Life would be boring if I didn't also like some stuff where you can't even understand what the bloke is saying ;o)

Does that mean I should feel even older seeing as I saw them live at Milton Keynes almost 23 years ago?
Some of their early stuff was absolutely superb.
In fact Kill Em All, Ride The Lightning, Master of Puppets, And Justice for All and Metallica are all fantastic albums, especially the middle 3.
Lars is one of the best drummers of all time.
